BriefKid Privacy Policy
BriefKid helps parents turn school notes, emails, screenshots, photos, and typed reminders into practical school preparation tasks. This policy explains what data BriefKid collects, how it is used, and how families can control it.
Data We Collect
BriefKid may collect account information such as email address, authentication identifiers, and subscription status.
BriefKid may store child profile details that a parent enters, including a child's name or nickname, grade, school name, default departure time, and profile color.
BriefKid may store school-related source text that a parent confirms for analysis, extracted action items, due dates, reminder times, completion status, and source quotes used to explain why an action was suggested.
If email forwarding is enabled, BriefKid may process forwarded school emails, including sender, recipient, subject, plain text body, optional HTML body, attachments metadata, and processing status.
BriefKid does not require parents to enter highly sensitive child information such as government identifiers, medical records, or precise home addresses.
Photos, Screenshots, Audio, And OCR
BriefKid uses on-device Apple frameworks where possible. Screenshot and photo OCR is intended to run on the device before cloud analysis. Voice input is intended to use Apple speech recognition and then let the parent review text before saving or sending it for cloud suggestions.
BriefKid should not upload raw photos or raw audio in the current school-note analysis flow. If a future feature uploads files, the app and this policy must be updated before release.
Cloud Suggestions And AI Processing
When Cloud Suggestions is enabled, BriefKid may send parent-reviewed text, child profile context, locale, time zone, and an optional structured family preference summary to BriefKid's backend so an AI provider can suggest action items.
BriefKid is designed to send the minimum text needed for the requested suggestion. Parents can disable Cloud Suggestions in the app settings. When Cloud Suggestions is off, cloud AI extraction is not used for that flow.
Current third-party processors may include Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and Edge Functions; OpenAI or another configured AI provider for action extraction; an email provider for inbound email forwarding; and Apple for App Store purchases and platform services.
Preference Memory
Preference Memory stores a structured family summary, such as reminder timing preferences or correction patterns. It is intended to be stored locally unless the parent enables cloud suggestions that include this summary for a specific analysis request.
Parents can clear Preference Memory in settings.
Payments And Subscriptions
If BriefKid offers paid digital features or subscriptions on iOS, purchases are handled through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes payment information. BriefKid receives subscription status and transaction identifiers needed to unlock paid features, manage access, and support restores or refunds.
Data Retention
BriefKid keeps account, profile, task, source document, extraction, and email processing records while the account is active and the data is needed to provide the service.
Parents can delete source text while keeping saved task titles, dates, and reminders. Parents can also request or trigger account deletion, which should remove account-linked business data and private source files before deleting the authentication account.
BriefKid may retain limited operational logs needed for security, abuse prevention, debugging, legal compliance, or financial reporting.
Data Export And Deletion
Parents can request a copy of their data by contacting support.
Parents can delete source text in the app settings. Parents can delete their account from the account controls when signed in. If deletion fails or a parent cannot access the account, contact support.
Analytics And Diagnostics
BriefKid should not send school note body text, child full names, school names, source quotes, or raw source documents to analytics tools. If crash reporting or analytics are added, they must be configured to avoid sensitive school and child content.
Children's Privacy
BriefKid is intended for use by parents or caregivers, not for direct use by children. Parents should only enter child information that is needed to organize school reminders.
International Users
BriefKid may process data in countries where its service providers operate. By using BriefKid, parents understand that data may be processed outside their country or region, subject to applicable law and provider safeguards.
